I originally found the recipe to base my turmeric latte here. Yesterday, I tried adding a tablespoon of chocolate chips into the latte. My mom likes this variation and has been trying to get me to try it for weeks. It was edible, but unfortunately, it had lost a lot of the sweetness and color I liked.

Most of my family prefers turmeric in all their food, but many times I've disliked the taste because it had a strong flavor and was somewhat bitter. The combination of milk and turmeric tastes so much better and is pleasantly sweet instead of bitter. I've seen many recipes for turmeric latte, golden milk, or whatever you want to call it and many use more spices and use the stove to warm up the milk. I prefer to keep it simple and use the microwave to speed up the process. It really helps me fall asleep faster. My mom has finally tried the drink and noticed that she feels more energized during the day. She likes to add ground cardamom and coconut into her drink instead of heavy whipping cream. I might add alternate recipes as we start experimenting with the drink or add notes to this recipe for Golden Milk.

Sometimes, I desperately need some chocolate. Normally I prefer to make things from scratch, but I decided to try these new Pillbury's Place and Bake brownies. In the middle of the night, I don't even want to wait for the oven or make all 12 brownies, so I decided to try microwaving them. To my surprise, they turned out quite well. Unlike my failed attempt at microwaving one of my molten lava cake recipes, their taste and texture actually resembled brownies. Just like baked brownies, they harden as they cool, so it's important not to overcook them. Perhaps I can find an equally appealing microwave or mug recipe since I normally don't have these brownies around. For the days I do, here's a Microwaved Pillsbury Place And Bake Brownies - Chocolate Fudge recipe.

Sorry, no new recipes. Today I want to share an interesting article I read a while back. Here's the link for It's fine if you litter this container because it just turns into a plant. I realize this isn't for everyone. However, my mom and I already put kitchen scraps and eggshells into our garden, and we do not eat eggs often. Also, I'm sure there are other people who also think watching plants grow is a fun and rewarding experience.

Wow! It feels like I've been away forever! For the past month, I haven't had any luck perfecting any recipes or getting my mom to give me any input about the website. I've successfully made coffee ice cream but I didn't like how buttery it felt or how many calories it had from the sweetened condensed milk so I'm still working on a lighter version. Anyways, here's a recipe for Tofu Chocolate Pudding. By some happy accident I discovered that the texture is quite pleasant if it is half or fully frozen. Unfortunately, my mom is allergic to uncooked tofu and I don't like using a blender often, so this recipe will probably not be something I use very often. I've also added a link to the other page for an APEX application I'm going to be working on. For now, it only displays some data on I've been collecting on myself. Just like this website, it's a work in progress but I'm really happy to have something started and can't wait how it turns out!

This past week has been exciting! I've added a recipe for Instant Pot Brown Rice. I've read that rinsing rice helps lower the amount of arsenic it has, so that's why it's cooked in two stages. I prefer the finished rice a bit dry. If you prefer mushier rice, you can pressure cook it with more water. I've also added the steaming time for kale. I'm surprised I hadn't added it earlier. I've also added a few additional options for galleries, as well as one which combines features from the three I found from the W3school's website. I like the idea of a slideshow, but I also want to be able to see all the pictures as well as full-screen versions of each picture. My mom hasn't decided which version she prefers, so this gives me time to experiment. I'm also trying to use the method from this blog post to try to connect recipes to relevant posts. I think this is better than having one file per post since most of my posts are short and mostly text.

I remember reading somewhere about someone adding unmelted chocolate into the center of a mug cake to make it similar to a molten lava cake. I tried it, and now molten lava cake III is almost half the calories as molten lava cake I. DO NOT USE MILK INSTEAD OF HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM!!! I tried it, and the taste and texture were less pleasant. I might try using peanut butter instead of chocolate chips in the center. My mom's favorite candy is Reeses, so this might also end up being a new favorite.
I've added my own pictures to this code to create a gallery. I'll be updating the descriptions and navigation bar soon for these pictures and hopefully, this will be a permanent feature to this website.

I finally have a pleasing lower-calorie version of the molten lava cake! Thanks to some inspiration from this low carb chocolate lava cake recipe . It's over 200 calories less than the first recipe and for now, I will call it molten lava cake II . I've also changed the appearance of the recipe pages. Instead of a background color for all the text, I've put a background color to the block where the recipe is. I feel like I may have forgotten part of the tofu recipe because I didn't write it down (oops). I seem to be having luck making yogurt with 4 cups of milk. After one more successful attempt, it might be up next.

I'm hoping to create a website using WordPress so it looks a bit more professional than this one. It also gives me a chance to learn how to use some new tools. I'm still going to continue working here as well because I find it fun when I learn to write actual code and it actually works so, this is a good place to get my thoughts together and try new things. As promised, the molten lava cake recipe has been posted. It's inspired by Pressure Luck Cooking's Youtube video. His videos have the perfect amount of humor and information, so I highly recommend them. The cake has a chocolatey, fudgy, and gooey consistency. It's highly addicting and tastes good by itself, so it doesn't need a lot of ice cream to accompany it. I've decided to separate the different molten lava cake versions into different recipes so that it is more organized. I'm really grateful that even my less pleasant attempts were still edible so I didn't feel like I wasted food. I'd like to try a couple more changes to try to get a moister texture before posting a lower-calorie version. I succeeded in cooking tofu this weekend. I need to figure out the calories and serving information, but it will definitely make it here and become my first recipe not using the Instant Pot.

Hello again! It's been a while. I've decided that I don't want to write here every time I make a small change to the website. For the past week, I have improved the visibility of the pages on my phone and have had a few unsuccessful attempts at making my molten lava cake and cornbread recipes a bit healthier. I might post the molten lava cake recipe next week and update it with healthier alternatives once I have a successful healthier version. I've also tried steamed asparagus and have added them to the Steamed Vegetables recipe.. I got some really tasty fresh asparagus from the grocery store. When picking which bunch to get, pick one with thin stalks and where most of the stalks are green on the bottom. These will be the most tender and most tasty. This is helpful because you will have less asparagus to discard and can eat most of the vegetable you purchased. My mom still hasn't picked how she prefers the navigation bar to be positioned, so I have both versions throughout my website.

I've added quite a bit of color to the website. I've found some CSS code that was able to fix the repeating image for the background. It seems that whatever HTML can do, CSS can do better. I've increased the size of the font in the navigation bar. Hopefully, these changes will make this website look nicer. I didn't receive any complaints from my Instant Pot Banana Bread Recipe other than I should have crushed the walnuts. I did a bit of research on why banana bread can become rubbery and I did everything wrong on my previous attempt. For example, I put too much banana, too much flour, mixed the batter too much, and substituted baking powder for baking soda. The 7-inch springform pan also leaked and was too large for the amount of batter I made. The posted recipe addressed all those problems and was cooked in a 4 cup pyrex bowl. I need to add a list of materials as well as estimated calories for each recipe. That would be a good time to add links to certain posts for each recipe.

This website is now visible at randomworld.me. I figured out how to use an external CSS file for the navigation bar instead of writing the CSS into every file. It's really interesting how the changes I used to fix the flan recipe page a couple of days ago are exactly what I used to get the pages to work with the CSS file. How often do things work out like that!?! That's AWESOME!!! I've also added a recipe for Steamed Vegetables. The table of times will be updated as I try more vegetables. I made sure to put eggplant in the table because once I gave the wrong time to my mom and we ended up with raw eggplant. She wasn't very happy about that and refused to cook eggplant for months. The vegetables taste much better steamed in the instant pot compared to being cooked on the stove. I don't even need to add salt to them. While I'm writing about vegetables, I'm tasting my second attempt at banana bread in the Instant Pot. It's way better than the flat rubbery mess I ended up making last time so that recipe will be posted soon. I'm not a fan of how small the navigation bar looks on my phone. I prefer having all the posts visible on this page so I feel like I'm making progress but I still want a way for recipes to be able to go to their relevant blog post.

4/14/19

I'm really happy that I figured out how to fix the flan recipe page. This section is starting to resemble a blog so I think I might browse around to try to get ideas on how I want to organize this section. Ideally, I would like there to be a way to link a recipe to the particular blog post or posts which offer more information or background to the recipe.

My mom requested a picture of bluebonnets for the home page, so I added one to the home page (after creating one). It looked fine on my computer, but the image repeated itself on my phone because it was set as the background. I hope I can figure out how to position the picture so the whole page looks nice. I've also added a navigation bar to all the pages. The code is from w3school's CSS tutorial. Every page has the same CSS code, so I should probably learn how to put it into an external file so I don't need to keep copying it onto every page.

Hello again! I've started writing my first recipe for Instant Pot Flan. It's right here: Click Here for Flan Recipe It's based on this youtube video: Click Here I haven't made flan in years because it used to take hours and was very messy, but this recipe takes less than an hour to complete before it's ready to chill. A pyrex bowl is necessary because the caramel is made in the microwave. My recipe also uses less sugar in the custard and the caramel because I don't like to taste only sugar and I don't invert the bowl onto another plate before eating it. I only cook this for myself, so I'm not concerned with how it looks. In the coming week, I'm hoping to use some CSS to format the page and maybe add some more color to this website. A menu bar, as well as a recipe section, may also be good ideas to start working on.

Hello World! Today is the day I try to host a website on GitLab for the first time.
... Several Hours Later... It's alive!

Turns out I needed a public folder as well as an index.html file. Anyways.... Welcome to my first project not assigned by a teacher. This means that I have no deadlines or requirements... in other words, I can be totally random! The purpose of this website is for me to practice HTML and CSS so I will not be using any templates. I also want to keep this website simple so that my mom can use it on her phone without getting frustrated (Hi, Mom!). If anyone else finds this website helpful, that would be absolutely AWESOME!!! I'm so glad I was able to be helpful.
